Low Oxygen Saturation

We are here with Colby and he isn't having a very good day.  His underdeveloped lungs are not using the oxygen that they are giving him.  They have raised the pressure on his ventilator, which will expand the lungs more in hopes he will get more oxygen in the blood.  They are maxed at 100% on the amount they can give him. They are going to do another x-ray to see if he can handle going up more on the pressure.  They problem with that is the risk of over inflating and popping the lung. The are giving him meds to completely sedate him but he won't have it.  They gave it to him 20 minutes ago and he is still wiggling.  He has had some episodes that they think were probably seizures, so they gave him some meds for that.  He is getting some more blood that may help with his oxygen saturation.

Thank you all for continuing to pray for Colby.  He needs all he can get right now.

  1. We are all praying for all of you! Anya stopped playing to pray right after we read this too so we are all thinking about you.

  2. I don't know you but I just came across this post Jill Savage has listed on facebook. I previously saw what she posted the day after he was born and talked to her sister Kelly also. But I felt like I should post when I saw this.... My son was born in January 2001 premature. He weighed exactly what your little one did. Know there will be good days and bad days but I can honestly say today, August 2012 Brylan is an average 11 year old! We'll never forget what we went through but just know God is in control! There a several things that we did that seemed to help Brylan at the time.... we read to him via tape recorder and he always seemed to do better when he could hear us; decorated the outside of his little "world" with black and white which helped him to focus the doctors seemed to think and we did skin to skin contact once he was able. Nothing helps like prayer though! We'll make sure to add him to our prayer list! I just remember knowing it was never an option to give up ... God had plans for him even when the doctor couldn't even find brain activity the 1st three weeks... but the "pops" they speak of began to happen and slowly... oz. by oz. he grew! I pray Colby will too! Kristi Jayne

if you have a chance I posted a video of Brylan on youtube for his 10th b'day ... it's listed under Brylan Jayne but it has several things in there about the 1st months of his life ... maybe that might help some... not sure... just a thought!
